Journeyman Lineman- T & D ConstructionTracking CodexxxxJob Description As a member of a T&D Construction Project Team, performs construction and maintenance work on energized and de-energized overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines and facilities. The Lineman will: * Build and maintain distribution and/or transmission facilities. Assist in planning jobs to ensure compliance with safety and construction standards. * Drive and operate line vehicles and assist in stocking line trucks with tools, parts, and equipment. * Work with rubber goods and hot sticks on energized lines * Travel extensively with overnight stays and works hitches away from headquarters * Teach and mentor Apprentice LinemenRequired Skills ** Knowledge of: Lines core processes of new business operations, emergency response, and unplanned maintenance; Lines construction methods, materials, standards, and equipment; MSDS; and CARES (IPC safety program). Skills in: Operation of personal computers utilizing Microsoft products and time entry software. Ability to: Read and understand construction drawings and diagrams, plat maps, feeder maps, and Work Order maps; establish a positive working relationship with all team members and leadership; work on-call rotation; work overtime when needed and respond to emergencies outside of normal working hours; fill in for Foreman when required.Required Experience MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. Certificate of completion of an Apprentice Lineman training program that is recognized by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT), including at least four years of relevant work experience, OR six years documented experience as a lineman in distribution and/or transmission, (two of which must be documented at a journeyman level). Licenses/Certifications Valid Class A commercial driver's license with acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position, and be capable of acquiring tanker, doubles, and hazardous materials endorsements. The successful candidate will be required to complete an Employee Possessor Questionnaire form within 30 days of hire to be submitted & approved by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms as a Possessor of Explosives. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Job requires the ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, crawl, climb into and out of vehicles, twist, kneel, balance and reach. Perform occasional overhead work, lifting up to 75 lbs shoulder-height and above; occasionally lift 100 lbs chest-, waist-, and knee-high; occasionally carry items up to 125 lbs with two hands (75 lbs with one hand); occasionally push and pull weight in excess of 50 lbs; climb and work off of poles, ladders, and other structures that may be 40-150 ft high; work in and around energized lines; work long hours (up to 10 hours on average and occasionally up to 24 hours) in extreme weather conditions, with frequent and continuous standing/walking and occasional sitting; hike and snowshoe up to one mile; operate various all-terrain vehicles; walk on uneven terrain that may involve wet, rocky, muddy, snow-packed, or icy conditions; occasionally operate foot controls, and use fine and gross hand manipulation.
